Our client was exiting a hotel in Washington, DC and fell on a small step in between the exterior door and an inner set of doors. There were no signs warning patrons of the small step and the lighting was not bright. As a result of the accident, our client sustained a left distal humerus fracture and contusions to her left leg. Her injuries required an Open Reduction Internal Fixation of the left distal humerus and extensive follow up care.

We filed suit and retained a safety expert to examine the premises. We then convinced the hotel that the small step constituted a tripping hazard and were able to settle the case prior to trial.
