In a recent interview, attorney Thomas J. Simeone sat down with
The Law Entrepreneur – a legal podcast hosted by Neil Tyra – to discuss the inception of Simeone
& Miller, LLP, what it takes to build a successful law practice, and
the importance of client satisfaction in the legal field.

Before Simeone & Miller, LLP, lawyers Thomas J. Simeone and Craig D.
Miller were colleagues at another law firm. For many attorneys, the thought
of starting a firm would seem daunting, but for Thomas and Craig it was
a matter of course.

“It was relatively straightforward for us because we literally were
doing the same practice area we had been working in,” said Thomas.
“We knew exactly the type of case we wanted – the firm we
wanted.”

Even with the right legal experience, Thomas and Craig experienced the
burden of starting a new business. Thomas said, “It is a moment
where you question, ‘Do I have what it takes to draw people in and
be confident and do the cases well and weather the storms?’”
Simeone & Miller, LLP now boasts of a nine-member legal team, including
lawyers, paralegals, and staff.

“I’d been around so I knew what I could do and what I was capable
of,” said Thomas.

Confidence, though, isn’t the only ingredient to a successful law
firm. Thomas explained that alongside high-quality representation, he
understands the value of client relationships.

“We have a high-level commitment to client service,” he said,
“I worked at a firm that didn’t do that, but I saw other firms
that did – and a good chunk of their cases came from clients.”

At Simeone & Miller, LLP, Thomas and Craig strive to provide the kind
of customer service that encourages clients to come back with their future
legal issues. “There are certain types of areas of law where you
have repeat work. For personal injury cases, a person may only have one
case, but you still want to be there in case.”

In the past, Thomas and Craig have received calls from previous clients
and their families eight, nine, and ten years after the initial case.
“But they remember us,” Thomas said, “You want to be
long term.”
