On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, Thomas J. Simeone, an attorney at Simeone & Miller, LLP in Washington, DC, presented a check to Michael Francis, Community Court Coordinator, and Cleonia Terry, Mental Health Community Court Coordinator, of the District of Columbia Superior Court.

Mr. Simeone donated the check on behalf of The Counsellors, a Washington, D.C. area organization of attorneys and judges that is dedicated to the goal of bringing lawyers and judges together for the improvement of the legal community. The funds will be used to assist parties in mental health cases arrange transportation to their court and testing appointments. For people with mental health issues, many of whom are homeless or living in a shelter, transportation to court or testing appointments can be difficult to afford. The contribution will go directly to those individuals so that they can more easily comply with their legal obligations and more quickly wrap up their cases and get on with their lives.

This is The Counsellors’ first such contribution and they intend on making an annual contribution to a worthwhile cause in the legal community each year, funds permitting.

Mr. Simeone has twice served as President of The Counsellors, which regularly meets in Washington, DC but whose members also include judges and attorneys in Maryland and Virginia. He is managing partner of Simeone & Miller, LLP, LLP, whose practice includes personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and premises liability.
